Jessica Lange has been esteemed as one of the greatest actresses in Hollywood, but she forecasts that her retirement from acting is looming nearer.

"I am coming to the end of acting," she told the LA Times. "I have a list: another stage production, maybe one or two more movies, one more season of 'American Horror Story' ... and then that is it for me. Because I think that's enough. I want to go out with a bang ... or should I say, a scare?"

Lange has won numerous prestigious awards in her over three decades of acting, most recently reaping a handful of awards for her work on the horror series American Horror Story, in which she portrays a mentally ill character.

"It reenergized me; it reenergized my career," she said of the popular FX series. "There's no shame in recognizing that. It's exposed me to a whole new generation, which is a little strange. I'm not used to young people thinking I'm cool."

The 64-year-old Minnesota native began acting in 1976 thriller King Kong. Known for her deep, sultry voice, Lange has a predilection for darkness that she's constantly displayed on screen, which she attributes to her genes.

"I think it's just genetic," she said of her proclivity for dark roles. "I've never been a sunny personality. I've never been outgoing. I'm a solitary person. So those are areas of the human psyche that I like to explore, probably in a subconscious attempt to understand my own place in the world. It hasn't been easy; it's been my own horror at times." =paragraph_article

American Horror Story's third season, Coven, premiered two weeks ago and is slated to end in January. The series will likely be picked up for a fourth season in the coming months.

In her interview with the Times, Lange said she's enjoyed the ride and will continue acting in the short-term, but reiterated that her retirement is imminent.

"It's been fun. Depressing, sure, but fun. So I want a little more of it. For a little longer," she said.
