2013 In Review: Angelina & Robin Fend Off Cancer
By ROBERT PACE
December 30, 2013
With only a day remaining in 2013, ET takes a look back at a pair of the biggest stories of the past year: Angelina Jolie's double mastectomy and Robin Roberts' recovery from leukemia.
On May 14, Jolie stunned the world when she revealed in an op-ed in The New York Times that she'd undergone a preventative double mastectomy in February upon learning that she possessed a defective BRCA1 gene that gave her an 87-percent risk of developing breast cancer.
ET flashes back to her first public appearance after her announcement at the premiere of her partner Brad Pitt's film World War Z in June.
While Jolie took a preemptive strike against cancer, Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts was in the midst of recovering from cancer in the early stages of 2013.
Roberts took a hiatus from her GMA duties to recover from a bone-marrow transplant she received in late 2012. In February, Roberts finally made her return to GMA, and ET was on the set when her first show back was over and captured all the emotional moments, which you can see in the featured video.
