Legendary recording artist Neil Young was honored by The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing as part of its annual Grammy Week in Los Angeles on January 21. The recognition comes due to Young's historic career, including two previous Grammy wins, but also his dedication to the preservation of music recording and sound quality. Young is the founder of Pono, a music download service and digital audio format being developed to compete with MP3s, and improve on the compressed and compromised sound quality an MP3 file provides.
