What had ETonline readers buzzing this week?

1. Gosselin Twins Go Silent In Awkward 'Today' Show Interview

In their first-ever live TV interview, Jon and Kate Gosselin's twins Mady and Cara initially clammed up on camera when asked how they are doing and deferred to their mother for answers.

Appearing Thursday on the Today show, the 13-year-old sisters were at first silent when asked by co-host Savannah Guthrie how they and the rest of the family are doing in their post-reality show lives -- and instead just looked at their mother and each other. The still refrained from speaking even after being prompted by Kate, who said, "It's your chance, spit it out."

Their mother added that she was surprised at their "wordless" reaction on the show. "I don't want to speak for them but, Mady, go ahead. Sort of the things that you said in (People) magazine, that years later they're good, they're fine. Go for it, it's your chance," she said. Kate and the girls were recently featured in a cover story on People in which they gave an update on how they're doing. Following Kate's response, Mady turns to her mother and replies, "No, you just said it."

While they remained shy about speaking through the entire interview, Mady did answer when asked whether or not she thinks the public has formulated the wrong impression of her and her family. "I wouldn't say wrong. I would just say not the full story," she said. "A lot of people think that filming our show has damaged us, but it's only really helped." For her part, Kate reiterated the point she's recently been making about her children in interviews and on her personal blog. "They get really frustrated that people assume certain things in our house and they always say, 'But that's not how it is, mommy. Why do they say that about us?'" she said. "They're just really regular, every day, awesome teenagers."

After the appearance, Kate tweeted about the interview segment, "Thanks to @TODAYshow for having Cara, Mady and me on the show today! 1st live interview can render even the gabbiest girls speechless :)"

The twins' father Jon also issued a statement on the Today interview: "I just feel horrible for my twins. You would only know as a parent. I wish I could've rescued them...I only knew they were doing Todayearly this morning. It looked like the twins had a moral dilemma, 'Are we supposed to say it now? Or Maybe we shouldn't say that.' I'm here for them, I love them. They could call me with anything in the world. When I see them for custody next week I'm [going to] hug them. I'm going to be a parent first. Why were they on Today show? They were just in People magazine."

4. 'Octomom' Pleads Not Guilty to Welfare Fraud

Nadya "Octomom" Suleman pleaded not guilty Friday to welfare fraud charges for allegedly failing to report nearly $30,000 in earnings from personal appearances and video residuals when she applied for aid last year.

Suleman, 38, was released on her own recognizance after being arraigned in Los Angeles County Superior Court on three counts of welfare fraud. Deputy District Attorney Bill Clark told the Associated Press after the hearing that the case will go to disposition court, where authorities will try to resolve the case without a trial.

Prosecutors announced Monday that they had charged Suleman with one count of aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury by false application for welfare aid. If convicted, the single mother of 14 children could receive a maximum sentence of nearly six years in jail.

Suleman became famous after giving birth to octuplets in 2009. She was widely criticized after the historic birth because she had used in vitro fertilization to become pregnant and was receiving public assistance at the time.

5. Justin Bieber's Home Searched in Egging Probe

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies who searched Justin Bieber's home Tuesday for evidence linking the pop star to an alleged egging of his neighbor's house discovered cocaine on the premises and arrested a guest at Bieber's residence for an alleged felony narcotics violation.

Lt. David Thompson told a press conference after the raid that the narcotics arrest was unrelated to the investigation of the egging incident that was reported by a neighbor last week. "The cocaine I believe was in plain view of the deputies when they were looking for the other evidence," Thompson said, without elaborating.

A booking sheet obtained by ET identifies the arrested individual as Xavier Smith, a 20-year old rapper who goes by the name Lil Za. Bieber, 19, was detained along with seven other people while police executed the search warrant Tuesday morning.

Thompson said among evidence being sought by detectives in the investigation of the alleged egging was any existing security surveillance footage that could shed some light on the probe.

He also revealed that the reason the investigation was bumped up to felony vandalism case is because of the amount of damage reported from the egg-throwing incident, which the homeowner estimates to be around $20,000.
