The woman who accompanied Justin Bieber in a rented yellow Lamborghini as he allegedly engaged in drag racing before his arrest on suspicion of DUI early Thursday is a model named Chantel Jeffries who reportedly has past run-ins with the law.

The 21-year-old Jeffries -- whose Instagram profile states that she's represented by the prestigious Wilhelmina modeling agency -- was seen leaving Miami Beach's SET nightclub and was featured in social media photos with Bieber when police say he was allegedly speeding through residential streets in a drag race against R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff.

The New York Daily Newsreports that among Jeffries' previous run-ins with the law were at least five arrests, including one for speeding at 92 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Authorities in North Carolina's Onslow County confirmed to ET that in the past Jeffries was charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon in a case which was later dismissed. Court records described the incident as Jeffries allegedly stabbing another woman with a sharp object in the forearm during a physical altercation on February 2, 2011. The case was dismissed when the
prosecuting witness decided not to move forward with the case.

Jeffries -- who describes herself in her Twitter profile as a "student, model, eyebrow connoisseur, animal lover and deep thinker --  allegedly dated Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson and was also linked to Sean "Diddy" Combs' son, Justin, according to the Daily News.
