James Franco stars in a Ford Super Bowl ad which will air this Sunday just before kick-off of the big game between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks, in which he has a very intimidating co-star -- a tiger!
But according to the perpetually mild-mannered Franco, he was "cool" with having such a large presence on set.
"Naw, I'm cool with tigers, just like, all you gotta do is if they kind of get frisky, or mouth off or just growl too much, you just slap them in the face and then they just shut up," he joked. "Like I said, I knew the wranglers so they're cool with me slapping around their tigers."
But on a serious note, Franco's Super Bowl ad this Sunday marks a certain point in his career for the eccentric 35-year-old actor -- his first paid acting gig was actually a Pizza Hut Super Bowl commercial.
"This, I think, is the first commercial I've done since then," he reveals. "And what I find is that they're very high-class productions. You know, everything is done at a very kind of leisurely, expert pace, you know, and everything is just perfect."
Franco also dished on his upcoming Broadway debut in Of Mice And Men, alongside Bridesmaids' Chris O'Dowd and Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester.
"When I was young, before I started acting, I feared failure or embarrassment, but I don't fear it anymore," Franco says about the pressure to perform in front of a live audience. "It's a great project, and if it doesn't succeed, it's not going to be for lack of great people involved and lack of good material, it'll just -- I don't know whose fault it will be. But it's like, I'm never gonna let fear of failure keep me from doing something."
