Samantha Harris' Double Mastectomy Fears

By

Yesterday, former ET correspondent and Dancing with the Stars co-host Samantha Harris revealed that she has been diagnosed with stage one cancer. While she fears undergoing the major surgery of a double mastectomy, there is one thing she fears more -- the cancer recurring.

"I'm 40 years old and before the lumpectomy I had never been cut into before," said Harris. "I need to have the best possible chances that I can have, so that to me was the thing that made me decide."

In choosing the mastectomy, Harris will soon be living with a new body, but the aesthetic details aren't at the top of her priority list.

"I'm more worried about not having feeling, because you sort of lose all sensation in your chest wall," Harris said. "Also having something foreign inside you ... I'm worried about what I'm going to look like -- not to everyone else -- but to myself in the mirror."

One thing that will remain intact seems to be Harris' sense of humor.

"My husband and I celebrate our ten year anniversary at the end of May," said Harris. "Happy anniversary, honey! I don't know if you signed up for this, but you're with me now."
