Angelina Jolie speaks out on the group of girls kidnapped in Nigeria and the issue of human trafficking.
One international news story that recently gained momentum in the United States is the kidnapping of nearly 300 schoolgirls in Nigeria last month by Islamic militants. The issue was mainly brought to the attention of Americans through the creation of the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls by Los Angeles based documentary filmmaker Ramaa Mosley.
Also speaking out on the situation in Nigeria has been Angelina Jolie, who shared her thoughts with ET during a recent interview while promoting her role in the upcoming Disney movie Maleficent.

"I think we should be very happy that the countries -- now the U.K. and U.S are stepping up and wanting to support Nigeria on the ground and doing what they can to try to rescue the girls," said the actress and Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
"But I think it's looking at the bigger picture and understanding this
epidemic of men thinking that women don't have the right to have an
education and that they feel that they can get away with this kind of
behavior, and that it's fine to just take a woman and sell a woman or
abuse a woman or rape a woman."
She adds: "We have to end this culture of impunity. If people are able to get away with these crime then it will continue and it happened because so many times in the past when women have been taken raped and abused and nobody suffers any consequence for it. it is our fault in many ways that we've left this situation in such a way that these men feel that's it's something that they could do."
