Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy ordered a court investigator and adult protective services to probe into the whereabouts of ailing radio personality Casey Kasem on Monday, The Associated Press reports.
The 82-year-old former Top 40 host has been in various medical facilities, as he suffers from advanced Parkinson's disease and cannot speak. An attorney for Casey's daughter Kerri Kasem reportedly said that the family believes Casey has been taken to an Indian reservation in Washington state.
This news comes after a complaint from Casey's children, who claimed that they have not been able to see their father in accordance with an agreement with their stepmother. Reportedly, the medical facilities where Casey has received treatment have all been chosen by his wife Jean Kasem.
Attorney Craig Marcus reportedly appeared on behalf of Jean at Monday's hearing, saying he too did not know Casey's whereabouts, but that he believed he was "no longer in the United States." This prompted the order from Judge Murphy.
"Your statements concern me even more," Judge Murphy told Marcus.
Last week, Kerri Kasem reportedly filed a complaint accusing Jean of elder abuse by isolating Casey from his family.
"We've been troubled for a long time," said Kerri. "Justice has been served today."
