Director Michael Gottlieb, the writer and director of the 1987 romcom 'Mannequin', passed away on Friday.
Writer and director Michael Gottlieb died on Friday, May 24, in a tragic motorcycle accident, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Gottlieb is perhaps best known for writing and directing the classic 1987 supernatural romcom Mannequin, starring Kim Cattrall and Andrew McCarthy. He also helmed the 1993 comedy Mr. Nanny, starring Hulk Hogan.
The filmmaker, whose last feature film was Disney's 1995 live-action movie A Kid In King Arthur's Court, had begun working on producing video games, including several in the Mortal Kombat franchise and Nintendo 64's reboot of the classic game Paperboy.
Aside from his work in film and video games, Gottlieb was an accomplished commercial director who helmed many national spots and was also a teacher at the Pasadena Art Center College Of Design.
On Friday, Gottlieb was driving his Ducati motorcycle southbound on the Angeles Forrest Highway near La Canada Flintridge when he was involved in a collision with another car that threw him from the motorcycle. Despite wearing safety gear, Gottlieb suffered fatal injuries. He was 69.
Gottlieb is survived by his three daughters, Sarah, Julia and Grace.
