J. Lo and Pitbull take the stage at the 2014 World Cup Opening Ceremony.

Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte officially kicked off the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil on Thursday, June 12, 2014, with a performance of We Are One -- the official song of this year's World Cup -- but it wasn't without a little controversy.

Critical viewers took to Twitter to complain about a sound issue that made it hard to hear the trio sing.

It was initially reported that Lopez wouldn't be performing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony, but the 44-year-old superstar did indeed bring her signature flair to the event in a dazzling green bodysuit.

Around one billion people are expected to watch the opening ceremony and match on TV, and more than 60,000 fans will be in Sao Paulo's Corinthians Arena.
