WWE icon Pat Patterson, 73, is gay.
The wrestler made the bombshell announcement on the finale of the reality show WWE Legends' House.
"From where I come from, when I had nothing, no family, no money, and I ended up with Vince [McMahon], working in the office, to me that was the biggest achievement of my life. But there's more to that, guys. There's more to that," Patterson told his fellow wrestlers while sitting around a table. "Sitting here tonight I'm going to say something that I would never want to say publicly, but being here with you guys, for once in my life, I'm going to be me now. I survived all this being gay."
Patterson as well as his fellow wrestlers began tearing up at the announcement.
"I've lived with that for 50-some years," he continued. "I survived the business, I did. I'm so proud of me."
He also explained that he had "a friend of 40 years" with him who passed away of a heart attack.
Patterson was the first WWE intercontinental champion, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996.
