Michael Jace, best known for his work playing a police officer on the cop drama The Shield, is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to be arraigned on murder charges, according to The Associated Press.
The charges were filed in May after Jace was arrested for the murder of his wife. Jace did not enter a plea during his initial court appearance.
Police arrested Jace on May 19 after the actor allegedly shot his wife, track and field athlete April Jace, several times at the couple's home in Los Angeles. According to police, their two young children were home at the time of the incident, but were not harmed and are now living with relatives.
No motive has yet been released by investigators, and Jace's lawyers have cautioned that the investigation is still in its early stages.
According to the police, Michael Jace called 911 to report the shooting, and allegedly called his father-in-law to tell him to pick up the children because he had shot their mother.
April Jace, who had just turned 40 days before her death, was working in the Financial Aid department at Biola University. A memorial was held for her on campus at the University's Calvary Chapel the day after she was killed.
