The legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado (just outside Denver) went on lockdown on Thursday night after a shooting left three people wounded.

The shooting, which occurred in the venue's parking lot following a concert, is thought to have been targeted at the occupants of a white SUV that fled the scene following the incident, USA Todayreports. Three victims were taken to the hospital but their condition is still not yet known, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The Red Rocks' concert website says rapper Nas was the headlining artist on Thursday night.

"We do not believe this is a random shooting into a crowd," Jefferson County Sheriff spokesman Mark Techmeyer said (via USA Today), offering a vague description of the alleged shooter. "We don't know what the motive would have been for the shooter, or what the connection is with the victims."

The lockdown did include vehicle searches and the last car was reportedly able to leave the venue around 3 a.m. on Friday morning.

The Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a geological rock formation that also serves as an open-air music venue. ET will continue to follow this story as it develops.
