ET special correspondent Deion Sanders went one on one with Olympic diver Greg Louganis about Greg's new documentary Back on Board: Greg Louganis.

After winning gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games, Greg came out as a gay man.

"It was kind of on my own terms," Greg said of the decision. At the same press conference, Greg also announced that he was HIV positive.

"It was terrifying, because I had family who said, 'This is suicide,'" said Greg. "At that time -- back in the 80s -- there was so much shame and so many people being judgmental."

Greg admitted that he missed out on financial opportunities, as people were "afraid to hire [him], because [they] thought [HIV] was a death sentence."

"I went through depression," said Greg.

Today, Greg is a mentor for the U.S. diving team. His story is told in the critically acclaimed Back on Board, which is currently seeking distribution.
