Consider this couple unbreakable.

Despite a brutal year --which included a highly publicized cheating scandal -- Dean McDermott now says his relationship with wife Tori Spelling is better than ever, and that love truly does "conquer all."

"Things are great. Our relationship is stronger than it's ever been and you know, we're working very hard on that," McDermott says in a new interview with E!'s Giuliana Rancic. "And I'm working very hard on myself -- my sobriety -- it means everything to me, becoming the dad and the husband that I've always wanted to be and that they deserve. I'm really changing my life for the good."

He also defends the couple's controversial decision to play out their marriage drama on Lifetime's True Tori.

"For starters, we've lived a lot of our lives in the public eye, so it just kind of seemed natural -- if that even makes sense," he explains. "And it was an opportunity for us to tell our side of the story ... and to help others who are struggling in their relationship, with their infidelities, alcohol issues, depression ... and infidelity doesn't mean that, 'It's over. The relationship's over.'"

And though the year has been a rough one to say the least, McDermott says he's eternally grateful for his "strong" wife.

"I wake up every morning and I'm just so blessed that she's in my life still," Dean admits. "She's such a strong lady, and when this happened I was like, 'Why don't you just leave me?' and she's like, 'Well I love you -- I just can't turn that off' ... so what we're trying to show you is if that love's still there, love can conquer all, and love does conquer all."
