Robert Pattinson Talks Kristen Stewart Cheating Scandal: 'S**t Happens'

Though Twihards may never be, it appears Robert Pattinson is totally over that infamous Kristen Stewart cheating scandal.

In a new interview with Esquire UK, Pattinson reflects on one of the biggest celeb stories of 2012 -- Stewart getting photographed kissing her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

At the time, Stewart and Pattinson were still in a relationship.

“S**t happens, you know?" he now laughs. "It's just young people… it’s normal! And honestly, who gives a s**t?"

According to Pattinson, it was the fallout rather than the scandal itself that was the hardest part to deal with.

"The hardest part was talking about it afterwards. Because when you talk about other people, it affects them in ways you can’t predict," he tells the magazine. "It's like that scene in Doubt, where he's [Philip Seymour Hoffman] talking about how to take back gossip? They throw all those feathers from a pillow into the sky and you've got to go and collect all the feathers."

Pattinson, 28, also tells Esquire UK that Twilight was "one of the hardest acting jobs" he's ever done, but he's also aware that the indie films he appears to be leaning toward now in his career will have a hard time being well-received.

"You're judged so much more harshly if you step outside the norms of mass entertainment," he says.

So then why the difficult movie choices in smaller films like The Rover and the upcoming Maps to the Stars, rather than more high-profile leading man roles?

"From my cod-psychoanalysis of myself, I think I do it for myself," he explains. "I like to see if I'm capable of something, and I don’t really care what people think, even though I read all the reviews. If it really mattered, it would have destroyed me years ago."
