After reading what Adam Driver had to say to GQ magazine, you begin to realize why he's perfect to play the role of Lena Dunham's complex boyfriend on HBO's Girls.
Some of his interview with the men's magazine even sounds more like the fictional character Adam Sackler rather than the 30-year-old Driver.
"Life's sh**ty, and we’re all gonna die. You have friends, and they die. You have a disease, someone you care about has a disease, Wall Street people are scamming everyone, the poor get poorer, the rich get richer," Driver says, offering his world view. "That’s what we’re surrounded by all the time. We don’t understand why we’re here, no one’s giving us an answer, religion is vague, your parents can’t help because they're just people, and it’s all terrible, and there’s no meaning to anything. What a terrible thing to process! Every. Day. And then you go to sleep. But then sometimes, things can suspend themselves for like a minute, and then every once in a while there’s something where you find a connection."

That's pretty bleak! The actor's bizarre quotes continued when he started talking about how he chooses acting roles for himself. "I like everything I do to have some kind of meaning. ...The more masochistic the part, the more appealing."
Is that why he chose Star Wars?
Adding of his near overnight success from Girls, "It's very nice, but in a way, I don’t feel like I've really put in my dues. Like it doesn't feel earned."
Prior to getting into acting, Driver served in the Marine Corps., which may explain his world view. "It just seemed like a badass thing to do, to go and shoot machine guns and serve your country," he said of his time in the military (he was discharged after two years when he broke his sternum). "To not get to go with that group of people I had been training with was…painful.”
