Jackie Chan on Son's Drug Arrest: 'I'm Very Ashamed'

Jackie Chan's son Jaycee Chan ran into trouble last Thursday in Beijing when the 31-year-old was detained for marijuana use.

Taking to his blog, Jackie wrote openly about his son's mistake: "Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I'm very ashamed. As a father, I'm heartbroken."

An offense that carries a maximum of three years imprisonment, Jaycee is accused of aiding and abetting other drug users. Jaycee was in China with Taiwanese movie star Kai Ko, 23. Police said that both actors tested positive for the marijuana and that "100 grams of it were taken from Chan's home."

Jackie wants Jaycee to learn a lesson and hopes young people learn from his son as well, "I say to Jaycee that you have to accept the consequences when you do something wrong. As your father, I'm going to face the road together with you… I should also take some of this responsibility because as his dad, I didn't teach him well."

China made Jackie an anti-drug ambassador back in 2009, which is probably why he used this as a teaching moment for Jaycee's peers. "I hope our younger generation will learn from Jaycee's mistake and stay far away from drug abuse."

This is all part of a larger drug crackdown in China. In an event organized by Beijing's Narcotics Control Office and The Beijing Cultural Bureau, CBS reports that last week, 42 Beijing performing arts associations and theaters signed a pledge to not hire actors connected with drugs.
