Channing, Reese and Jennifer Reveal the Not So Nice Things People Tell Them on the Street

Vanity Fair

Say what?

Fans say the dardnest things?

Vanity Fair interviewed A-listers such as Jon Stewart, Channing Tatum, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner at the Toronto International Film Festival, where they asked them about the things people say to them when they recognize them on the street.

... Let's just say, the comments aren't always kind!

"Oh my God, you're so much prettier in person," Garner says about the backhanded compliments she receives.

According to Jake Gyllenhaal, people aren't even interested in having a conversation with him.

"We don't want to talk to you, we just want to take a picture with you," he laughs.

Ditto with Channing Tatum, who says people approach him to "talk to their daughters."

Though for Keira Knightley and Steve Carell, it's often times a case of mistaken identity.

"Aren't you Anne Hathaway?" Knightley jokes about often getting mistaken for the Oscar-winning actress. "And I said no and they wouldn't believe me!"

"Stephen Colbert -- love you," Carell deadpans.

Though Witherspoon might have the best answer of all, thanks to her female-friendly movies.

"You're my best friend and you don't even know it!" she smiles.
