Actor Ben Affleck, friend and colleague of Clooney's, could not attend the wedding, because he was working and doing press obligations for Gone Girl.
He told ET Canada, "Yeah. Some people have to work and everybody else gets to be in Venice. But [George] found a great girl and I'm happy for them. I wish them the best."
Sending his well wishes from afar for now, Affleck's friend Matt Damon is there to tell him all about it later.
Affleck and Clooney won Oscars together for producing Argo.
Clooney and Alamuddin tied the knot today in a private ceremony at the Hotel Aman Canal Grande.
