Robert Downey Jr. and his wife (and producer) Susan are opening up about how nervous now that they are expecting a baby girl. While promoting their new film The Judge, ET's Rocsi Diaz got the actor's thoughts on his struggles with addictions, second chances and how he's preparing to welcome his first daughter in November.

"I don't want to be a pushover. I hear about these pushover dads," the 49-year-old told Rocsi Diaz about what kind of father he'd be to a girl. "I want to be a fair but firm dad. I want her to fear and respect me."

This is the couple’s second child together, and Susan admits she's the good cop when it comes to their 2-year-old son, Exton. But how will having a girl in the house change things?

"I have no idea what to do with a little girl," she says. "For some reason I understand little boys because I grew up with two brothers. This is going to be a fun adventure for both of us."

Robert is also the father to Indio Downey (with first wife Deborah Falconer). The 20-year-old made headlines this past June following his arrest for cocaine possession.

At the time Robert, who's famously struggled with substance abuse himself, released a statement to ET saying, "Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being."

Today, the actor says he has been drug-free since 2003. He's been married to Susan for nine years and The Judge is their first project under their production company Team Downey. Susan served as producer for this film so the pressure is on Robert to deliver.

"I just don't want to let my wife down," he admits. "I don't want the producer to be mad at me either because that's no fun."

The Judge, which also stars Robert Duvall and Vera Farmiga, hits theaters October 10th.
