"It was a little scary," Hewitt admitted about joining the cast. "I haven't really done that since Party of Five, where I sort of join something already in progress."

While she's new to the cast, the show's network home is familiar.

"Ghost Whisperer was on CBS and I was really excited to get to come back and join that family again," said Hewitt. "It's such a different job for me than I've ever had before, so it's great."

In her time off from television, Hewitt kept herself busy with major life developments. She married actor Brian Hallisay in 2013 and had a baby girl, Autumn, the same year.

The 35-year-old actress described parenthood as an "eye-opening, wonderful" experience.

"She has great musical taste," Hewitt gushed. "I think she's going to be a little dancer."
