While he does not go into specifics about the program that will provide him with help, he is taking the next step after saying he was "deeply sorry" to everyone that he let down.

A spokesperson for Phelps said, "As Michael stated, he recognizes the seriousness of his actions and is taking steps to address them. He is entering himself into a six-week, in-patient program. While this has been an extremely difficult time for him, he is encouraged that this comprehensive program will help him focus on all of his life experiences and identify areas of need for long-term personal growth and development. Michael takes this matter seriously and intends to share his learning experiences with others in the future."

Back in Nov. 2004, at age 19, Phelps was arrested for a DUI. He pleaded guilty in exchange for 18-months probation. He was also suspended for three months by USA Swimming after a photo surfaced of him with a bong.
