Jacky O'Shaughnessy, a 62-year-old woman whose success as an American Apparel model has catapulted her to celebrity, opened up to ET about her viral video
and past struggles with self-image
"If I could change a few things right now I would, but for the first time it's like, 'I'm good this way, too,'" O'Shaughnessy said in her popular YouTube video. Prior to the video, O'Shaughnessy was perhaps best known for her role in the '80s TV series Night Court.
The clip is a part of The What's Underneath Project
-- a video series that calls on celebrities to remove their clothes to encourage people to feel comfortable in their own skin. Their biggest name was perhaps Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's 20-year-old daughter Tallulah Willis, who appeared in the series two months ago. The main message is that you can accept yourself at any size and any age.
O'Shaughnessy, who revealed that she was once in a relationship with a man that was ashamed to be seen with her in public because she was "too old." In response, O'Shaughnessy moved 3,000 miles away -- and now she is the face of American Apparel.
"I finally stood there and said, 'When are you going to be okay?'" said O'Shaughnessy. "'You've been spending almost 50 years trying to get thin enough.' And I finally said, 'Today!'"
