Uma Thurman is downplaying reports that her ex-fiance Arpad Busson is suing her for custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Rosalind.

On Tuesday, it was reported by numerous media outlets that Busson, a French financier, had filed an emergency order in the New York Supreme Court. However, those papers are sealed and therefore it's unknown where the filing stands currently.

While Busson has yet to comment, a spokesperson for Thurman told ET, "It is unfortunate that this very private discussion regarding Mr. Busson’s visitation rights and his participation in decision making has been made public."

The statement continues, "However, we are optimistic that a fair agreement for both sides will be reached out of court."

The 44-year-old Pulp Fiction actress -- who is rumored to be dating director Quentin Tarantino -- welcomed her daughter, Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson, with Busson in July 2012. The two started dating in 2007, but called off their engagement in April of this year.
