Soon after, Joe and Teresa sat down with Andy Cohen on his late night Bravo talk show Watch What Happens Live, giving Cohen a chance to hear their side of the story.

On Thursday, Cohen walked the red carpet outside the Friends of Hudson River Park charity gala, and he stopped to talk to ET about Joe and Teresa's legal problems, and how jail is going to impact their marriage.

"They are going to be apart for a long time," Cohen said. "I think they've got a really strong bond, but it's just so hard… For both of them, family comes first, and they're family. They've been together for years. They're high school sweethearts."

Joe and Teresa were officially married in 2000.

Joe and Teresa will be allowed to serve their time separately, with Teresa going in first. Joe begins his sentence when she exits. This is to allow one of them to watch the couple's four children.
