Donald Trump and Russell Brand are trying their darnedest to take jabs at one another in under 140 characters.

On the heels of Iggy Azalea and Snoop Dogg putting their online feud to rest, Donald Trump and Russell Brand are trying their darnedest to take jabs at one another in under 140 characters.

Trump ignited the online argument when he hurled an insult at the comedian via Twitter on Thursday night, writing: "I watched Russell Brand @rustyrockets on the @jimmyfallon show the other night -- what the hell do people see in Russell -- a major loser!"

However, the joke's on Trump because Brand was not on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon this week, but did make an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday.

Nevertheless, Trump added: "@katyperry must have been drunk when she married Russell Brand @rustyrockets -- but he did send me a really nice letter of apology!" It's unclear what "letter" Trump is referring to as no further information is given.

It didn't take long before Brand retaliated, writing: "@realDonaldTrump are you drunk when you write these tweets? Or does that foam you spray on your bald head make you high?"

The 39-year-old comedian then attacked how Trump made all his money, and attached links to articles to back his tweet. "@realDonaldTrump I don't think your daddy left you any witty ripostes," Brand wrote. "And everything you have you inherited."

One of his tweets linked to an excerpt from The Self-Made Myth: The Truth About How Government Helps Individuals and Businesses Succeed. The piece disputes Trump's image that he built a real estate empire all on his own, and claims the entrepreneur inherited between $40 million and $200 million from his father Fred Trump.

Trump, 68, then attempted to get Brand's ex-wife on his side by continuing to tweet at Katy Perry. He wrote: "@katyperry Katy, what the hell were you thinking when you married loser Russell Brand. There is a guy who has got nothing going, a waste!"

The very next message reads: "@katyperry I watched Russell Brand and I think his mind is fried - he looks really bad. Russell is a total joke, a dummy who is lost!"
