This is a photograph of Benedict Cumberbatch:
OR IS IT? Is this the REAL Benedict Cumberbatch?
Or is THIS a photo of the real Benedict Cumberbatch?
Madame Tussauds unveiled their Benedict Cumberbatch wax statue in London and, unlike the monstrosities that usually result from entrapping a celebrity’s likeness in wax, it looks eerily, eerily realistic. Like, so much so that we bet you can’t tell which of these are photos of real Benedict Cumberbatch and which are the wax statue.
So, is this Benedict Cumberbatch or his wax statue?
And what about this one? Does this look real or wax?!
This photo of Benedict Cumberbatch being mobbed by fans who just want to take a selfie with one of the star of Star Trek Into Darkness and 12 Years a Slave has to be real, right?
Because who wouldn’t want to take a selfie with Benedict Cumberbatch? And this portrait has to be of his very, very realistic wax work, right?
It’s so flawless.
It’s a mystery for the ages. Or for Sherlock Holmes.
Maybe we’ll never know which is real and which is fake. (Just kidding: The first is wax, the second is real, the third is wax, the forth is real, so on and so forth. We didn’t try too hard to trick you.)
Cumberbatch says of the statue, "What a weird and wonderful compliment to be included in the ranks of those already committed to wax. I've been accused of being wooden in my work but never waxy."
And check out what happened when One Direction got waxed:
