Prince Blows Critics Away with 8-Minute 'SNL' Set

All eyes are on Prince.

Although Saturday Night Livetypically features two musical segments from its performers, Prince decided to do something different on November 1.

The 56-year-old music icon planned to perform one, eight- minute set.

He took the stage with 3rdEyeGirl and performed a medley of songs from his two most recent albums Pletctrumelectrum and Art Offical Age. Songs included "Clouds," "Plectrum Electrum," "Marz" and "Another Love."

Although, it looked like his performance was not complete without technical difficulties. At one point, he tried to turn up the volume twice before he realized that he had been playing unplugged. He found the chord hanging on his mic stand and plugged it in mid-song.

Once the guitar was plugged in, Prince impressed his critics.

The Rolling Stone
raves, "Prince, his backing band 3rdEyeGirl and guest vocalist Lianne La Havas still delivered one of the most explosive and most polished SNL musical spots anyone has witnessed since perhaps when Chris Rock, the guest host, was still an SNL featured player."

The New York Times
called his performance "sharp and rousing."

Newsday
said his performance was :historic, exciting (visually, musically) and one of the more memorable musical guests in recent 'SNL' history."

It was not just the media who praised his performance. Twitter was full of viewer's reactions.
