Though Vanessa, Nick and Camden may look like the perfect family, the former Total Request Live host got surprisingly candid about not having an instant bond with her baby bump -- and she wants to tell fellow expecting mothers that that's OK.
"While pregnant with my son, Camden, I felt guilty because everyone told me about this love I'd feel, and I wasn't there yet," the 34-year-old shares. "I remember asking Nick, "Is something wrong with me?' I've wanted this my whole life, and I'm forcing myself to have those feelings."
Though that all changed when she found out the sex of the baby.
"For me, the love really flowed when I found out the baby was a boy," she reveals. "That's when I could finally bond, once I knew 'it' was a him."
She also advises other moms to not let social media make them feel like inadequate mothers.
"With social media, people share mostly their best moments," she points out. "Don't feel like you're not doing enough when you see a mom posting about making applesauce after you bought it. Ha ha! It's fine! Just for raising a little human being you should be commended."
Nick, 41, also recently got candid on parenting, specifically, admitting that he's glad he never had kids with his ex-wife Jessica Simpson.
" ... And look, you're always going to love your kids no matter how you feel about their other parent, but all things being equal, it was the best thing probably for both of us that we went on with our lives," he said bluntly during an interview with Jenny McCarthy for her Sirius XM show Dirty, Sexy, Funny. "She's obviously happily married with two and I'm happily married and about to have two so it all worked out the way it was kind of meant to work out."
