In an essay penned to U.K.'s Spectator publication, the Duchess of Cambridge's sister acknowledges that it's been a big year for Kim Kardashian's assets. "No year is complete without a bottom story, and the 'Rear of 2014' award undoubtedly goes to Kim Kardashian, after her posterior exploded all over the internet last month." Pippa, 31, writes.
Recalling her own bootylicious headlines, she continues, "I must say that mine — though it has enjoyed fleeting fame -- is not comparable."
Pippa then questions the 34-year-old reality star's motives for posing for the full-frontal, butt-baring Paper Magazine photo shoot. "But the Kim butt story did make me pause. What is it with this American booty culture?" she writes. "It seems to me to be a form of obsession. Kim’s aim, apparently, was to break the internet, but I’m not sure she’s going the right way about it."
Kim's backside has stirred up quite the controversy this year. Upon the reveal of her "break the Internet" photos, a few celebrities offered up their opinion on the pics.
"Kim Kardashian's arse: A glistening portal to some memory of a time when we knew who we were and what we are? Or not?" comedian Russell Brand tweeted.
Alyssa Milano compared the images to a breastfeeding photo she posted on Instagram, writing: "Wait! I don't get it. No disrespect to Kim but... people are offended by my breastfeeding selfies & are fine with her (amazing) booty cover?" She later added: "I mean...it really is an unbelievable ass."
Other stars were not so pleased with the pics. Full House star Candace Cameron Bure tweeted: "How much longer do I have to look at Kim Kardashian's butt on my twitter feed? Ugh."
Naya Rivera also showed her disapproval for the images by pointing out that Kim was now a mother. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star's friend Jonathan Cheban was quick to throw shade at the Glee gal for her reaction.
Needless to say, Kim's butt has had a controversial year.
Who do you think has the best booty of 2014?
Is it really Kim Kardashian? After all, Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea did come out with a song called "Booty," and Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" certainly has lots of shots of her derriere. Check out their butt battle, below.
