Awards season may be over but Julianne Moore has some choice words for the “humiliating” process.

In a new interview with Harper’s BAZAAR, the actress – who was a fixture of awards season this year thanks to her Oscar winning role in Still Alice -- says she will twirl for the cameras but she won’t do the mani-cam, which she made more than obvious at this year’s Golden Globes.

Just Say No to the Mani-Cam (Like Julianne Moore Did!)

“I’m 54 years old,” she explains. “I can’t make my fingers walk; it’s humiliating! And a guy asked me to lift up my skirt to show them my shoes, and I said, ‘I don’t need to do that. Let’s keep some dignity.’ ”

Part of the dignity also means fitting in that dress, which is often scrutinized to the very thread by the press.

“We’d all be lying if we said we aren’t watching what we eat,” Moore says. “Of course we are! I think we’re also really stressed. I’m not a stress eater. I get nervous and I don’t eat. But, you know, I had a dress on the other day, and I said to my manager, ‘When you see my back fat sticking out, tuck it back in!’ [Laughs] Be a friend.”

And with awards season over, Moore can relax knowing she doesn’t have to worry about the flashing bulbs on the red carpet or questions about her fellow nominees.
Yet, like many women in her field this year, there is nothing but love for each other. When asked who she admires most, she dropped a few names -- Ellen Page, Kristen Stewart (“I just love her”), and Emma Stone (“fabulous”) -- but brought it back to the group as a whole.

“Women are fabulous. I like our camaraderie, our similarities, how we collaborate,” Moore says, adding that her daughter helped put that into perspective. “When my daughter was born, I looked at her in the bassinet and I said, ‘You’re one of us.’ I’m going to cry if I think about it too much. I had this little girl and was like, ‘Yup. You’re one of us.' "
