Pregnant 'Food Network Star' Cristie Schoen Codd and Husband Found Murdered

A North Carolina man has been arrested and charged for the murders of Food Network Star contestant Cristie Schoen Codd and her husband Joseph Codd.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Jason Owens is in custody at the Buncombe County Detention Facility and has been charged with two counts of felony first-degree murder, one felony count of breaking and/or entering, larceny after breaking and entering and one count of murder of an unborn child. This is not the first time Owens has been accused of murder. In 2000, he was a primary suspect in the disappearance and presumed killing of Zebb Quinn.

Cristie, 38, and her husband, 45, were reported missing on Sunday by their family, but it is thought they were killed on Thursday. Deputies responded to the call and found their vehicles and pets at their Leicester, North Carolina home, THR reports.

Cristie, who was reportedly five months pregnant at the time of her death, competed on season 8 of Food Network Star in 2012. "Our thoughts go out to Cristie's family and friends during this difficult time," a Food Network spokesperson told Us.

She was also a stunt performer on such projects including the upcoming Terminator Genisys and Kate Bosworth's horror film Before I Wake. Joseph was a grip who had worked on the HBO series Carnivale.
