Shailene Woodley is all about marching to the beat of her own drum.

The 23-year-old Insurgent star -- who's become well-known for her unconventional health practices like sunning her private parts and eating clay -- is now singing the praises of drinking "bone broth" in the morning.

During her recent appearance on Late Show with David Letterman, Shailene explained what she finds so appealing about her morning drink of choice, which she says is made from boiled bones and other animal parts brewed anywhere from 24 hours to 36 hours.

"What I think is beautiful about it is you utilize the whole animal," she said. "You're not just seeking out that perfect cut of muscle meat and what not."

She also shared the concoction's health benefits.

"It's known to be helpful with leaky gut or irritable bowel syndrome -- leaky gut is when you have tiny little holes in your intestines," she shared with a clearly amused David Letterman.

Shailene graciously shared her own recipe on the show's Instagram, just in case you want to give bone broth a try at home.

But if you're doubting Shailene's commitment to her natural lifestyle, think again. The Descendants star was pictured leaving the Insurgent premiere in New York City barefoot on Monday night, braving both NYC sidewalk germs and the cold weather.
