Candice Bergen is not about to apologize for gaining 30 pounds in 15 years.

The 68-year-old former Murphy Brown star is getting candid about her weight in her new memoir, A Fine Romance, and isn't afraid to tell it like it is.

"Let me just come right out and say it: I am fat," she writes, as the Today show reported on Monday, previewing their interview with her on April 7. "I live to eat. None of this 'eat to live' stuff for me."

"I am a champion eater," she jokes. "No carb is safe -- no fat, either."

In what's sure to be controversial, the former model also seemingly jokes about bulimia.

"They maintain their weight by routinely vomiting after major meals consisting of a slice of steak or a filet of fish," she writes about her thin friends, according to Page Six. "I am incapable of this."

Bergen says she is now totally comfortable in her own skin.

"At a recent dinner party I shared bread and olive oil, followed by chocolate ice cream with my husband," she recalls. "A woman near me looked at me, appalled, and I thought, 'I don't care.'"

A Fine Romance, out April 7, is Bergen's second memoir after 1984's Knock Wood. The book will include everything from her marriage to French director Louis Malle, raising her now 30-year-old daughter Chloe, and falling in love again after Malle passed away in 1995 from cancer.
