The first look at MTV’s Scream series is finally here! The network announced that Bella Thorne (The DUFF) will be on hand to debut a new trailer during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 12.

The TV adaptation will tell the story of a town stricken with violence following a cyber-bullying incident that results in a brutal murder. Haunted by a past killing spree and the threat of a new killer, a group of teens must navigate life as friends, lovers, enemies and, targets of each other’s suspicions.

Thorne will star as one of town’s terrorized teens, possibly as the victim of the show’s initial murder. “I will re-enact the famous scene of Drew Barrymore in the original series,” the actress said during a January Facebook Q&A.

The rest of the cast -- comprised of several newcomers -- includes popular girl Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), artsy loner Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus, Arrow), computer geek Noah (John Karna), all-American athlete Will (Connor Weil, Sharknado), ferocious socialite Brooke (Carlson Young), and mysterious new kid Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). The show’s adult stars feature The 4400’s Joel Gretsch as Sheriff Clark Hudson and Tracy Middendorf (Mission Impossible: III).

NEWS: Ryan Murphy Spills New Details on 'Scream Queens'

When it was first reported that MTV was developing a TV series based on the popular Scream franchise back in 2013, the news was met with a lot of bewildered excitement. How could it possibly work? But in recent months, new details have outlined a potentially delicious fall series that will rival Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens on FOX.

Scream comes from the minds of Jill Blotevogel (ABC Family’s Ravenswood) and Jaime Paglia (Arrow).

ETonline will have the trailer for your repeated viewing pleasure on Sunday, April 12 immediately after it airs on TV.

In the meantime, watch as Thorne and her Duff castmates goof off on the set of their hit teen comedy:
