'True Detective' 2: Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn Are at Odds in New Trailer

After months of anticipation, HBO has shared the first
official look at the new season of True Detective. The anthology crime thriller
returns with a whole new (star-studded) cast, including Colin Farrell, Vince
Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch.

Things look rough for everyone in the 60-second trailer that
gives a glimpse of the complicated relationship that forms between three law
officials and a career criminal following a bizarrely brutal murder.

Farrell plays Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective for City of Vinci in LA County. McAdams and Kitsch serve as the show’s other two law officials: Ani Bezzerides, a disillusioned Ventura County detective, and Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and highway patrol officer.

Vaughn is Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing it all as his wife (Kelly Reilly) struggles to make the right choice.

The season’s case is set into motion with Kitsch’s character discovers a crime scene, triggering an investigation that involves both the police and high-time criminals.

True Detective is written and created by Nic Pizzolatto. Justin Lin, who directed several of the Fast & Furious films, takes the helm for the first two episodes.
