Washington gushed to ET’s Cameron Mathison about Hillary Clinton’s recently-announced candidacy for 2016 on the set of the Shonda Rhimes political drama on Monday.

"Yeah, I’m thrilled," the actress said. "I’m very thrilled. I’m excited for her, and I’m sure I’ll be hitting the stump trail."

Washington spoke at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in support of President Obama’s re-election, and will likely bring her Olivia Pope-inspired savvy to Clinton’s upcoming campaign.

The Scandal star even had a Twitter question answered by Clinton when the presidential hopeful hosted an #AskHillary Q&A last July.

"What advice would you give to young women who are considering a career in politics/public service?" Washington asked.

"If a woman wants to succeed in the public arena, she needs to grow skin as thick as the hide of a rhinoceros," Clinton answered. "I have certainly, as you can tell, have had to learn how to do that, and there's a lot of good moisturizers I can tell you about if you're interested. The second thing is to learn how to take criticism seriously but not personally."
