You tell 'em Anna Kendrick!
When it was announced that Mae Whitman would not be reprising her role as Patricia Whitmore -- the president's daughter -- in Independence Day 2, Anna took to Twitter to express her dismay.
The 29-year-old Pitch Perfect 2 star tweeted, "What the actual f**k? [Mae Whitman] is talented as hell, and JUST proved she can carry a film. Smh."
Mae originated the role in the 1996 massive hit film starring Will Smith, who is also not returning for the sequel. Mae's role in the new film will be played by 21-year-old It Follows actress Maika Monroe.
Anna is not alone in being upset about Mae's re-casting.
WHY DID THEY RECAST MAE WHITMAN'S PART IN INDEPENDENCE DAY 2? File Under: Things That Are Totally Not OK.— Alicia Lutes (@alicialutes) April 28, 2015
We mean, she was at least asked, right??
Unless Mae Whitman turned down the role, there is no reason to recast The President's daughter for the Independence Day sequels.— Rick The Hat Bman (@stopthepota) April 28, 2015
Not to mention she JUST starred in her own movie, The DUFF.
Come on guys, it's not like that child actress from Independence Day grew into a talented, bankable young--wait, that was Mae Whitman?! WTF?— Zack Stentz (@MuseZack) April 29, 2015
And according to The Hollywood Reporter, she wasn't even one of the final actresses considered?!
We're not okay with this. We need a minute. One thing is for sure Mae Whitman, even though you won't be reprising your role...
