Like a lot of mothers, Esther Jenner only wants her child to be happy.
The 89-year-old opened up about how she feels about Caitlyn Jenner's big reveal in Vanity Fair this week, saying she's adjusting to no longer referring to her as Bruce.
"Think about it. It’s a difficult thing when it’s habit. But I will accomplish this," Ester told New York Daily News. "I love him dearly. It doesn't matter whether he dresses like a male or a female. Whatever he needs to make him happy that's all I care about."
Expressing pride for her child, Ester added, "Bruce/Caitlyn has handled this in a very respectable and respectful way. She’s made comments true to her heart. I have nothing but admiration for my child."
In her Vanity Fair interview, Caitlyn said she doesn't get "hung up" on people not knowing her name just yet.
The 65-year-old former Olympian also shared how she came up with Caitlyn. "It's one of the hardest things in life -- choosing your own name," she told VF, revealing that she also considered Heather and Cathy.
It was the reality star's assistant, Rhonda, that suggested Caitlyn. "I love that name, too!" was her reaction.
Caitlyn confessed that it wasn't easy deciding not to spell her name with a "K" like the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner girls, but wanted to make her own path.

And that she has! The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star will make her first appearance at the 2015 ESPY Awards. "What the hell am I going to wear?" she tweeted to her 2.2 million new followers.
