Miley Cyrus Met Her amfAR Agender Date Tyler Ford Through Ariana Grande
Turns out Miley Cyrus' date to the amfAR Inspiration Gala Tuesday night, 24-year-old poet and photographer Tyler Ford, is also good friends with another pop diva -- Ariana Grande!
ET sat down with Tyler -- who identifies as agender and prefers to use the pronouns "they" and "them" -- on Wednesday, when Tyler dished on first meeting Miley.
"The way that I met Miley is through my best friend Ariana Grande," Tyler revealed, also sharing that they met at one of the 22-year-old "Wrecking Ball" singer's Happy Hippie Foundation events. "She introduced me to Miley, like, 'Yo, this is my friend Tyler, they are a writer, they are trans, and they are happy about what you are doing,' and Miley was super excited about that."
Tyler explained to ET what being agender means.
"Aagender is genderless or having no gender," Tyler said. "It's pretty simple. I don't identify with a gender. I think I am who I am. I'm a person and that's enough ... It's not an uncommon thing, it's just something that hasn't been addressed in the media until as of late, but I'm definitely not the only one."
Clearly, Tyler has plenty of respect for Miley, who's been outspoken about her support for the LGBTQ community.
"I think what inspires me most about Miley is that she is so honest and is truly supportive, like, she is a truly supportive friend which was why it was such an honor for me to introduce her and to speak about her," Tyler gushed about last night's star-studded gala. "She is so genuine and really wants to share our stories, like, if you look at her Instagram it's all me right now! Which is just amazing that I get to share my story with such a huge audience, and educate people, and just be myself and just be accepted for being myself."
If there's one thing that comes out of the entire experience, Tyler hopes for more awareness for the injustices trans and queer people face.
"I hope that people will continue to speak out and speak up about the injustices that trans people face, that queer people face, that people living with HIV and AIDS face, and I really hope that this just gets the dialogue going and gets more people talking and more people educated," Tyler said. " ... Spreading not only awareness, but acceptance of just loving people for who they are."

Last month, Miley clarified that she "doesn't like labels" when speaking about her sexuality. "I am ready to love anyone that loves me for who I am!" she said in a Facebook Q&A with fans. "I am open!" Watch below:
