Bristol Palin is taking to social media to prove that the controversy over her pregnancy announcement isn’t going to bring her down.
The conservative public figure and daughter of former vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin posted an Instagram pic of herself aiming a shotgun on Monday, with empty shell casings scattered at her feet.
"She is clothed with strength and dignity," Palin captioned the pic, quoting Proverbs 31:25 and adding gun and sunshine emoji, "she can laugh at the days to come."
The 24-year-old former Dancing With the Stars contestant has faced media scrutiny since she announced she was expecting her second child out of wedlock, six-and-a-half years after giving birth to her first son Tripp with former fiance Levi Johnston.
"I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant," Palin announced on her blog last week. "Honestly, I've been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one."
News of the pregnancy came just weeks after Bristol called off her Memorial Day weekend wedding to Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer. She has not said if Meyer is the father of her unborn baby.
"I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you," Palin said of her second pregnancy. "I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy. My little family always has, and always will come first. Tripp, this new baby, and I will all be fine, because God is merciful.”
