Arrow has found its Damien Darhk.
Neal McDonough has joined the cast of The CW’s comic book drama as the new series regular for season four, it was announced Friday.
The Justified alum will play Damien, a mysterious and sophisticated villain, who is also an adversary of the late Ra’s al Ghul. Now the leader of his own clandestine group, this cunning foe will prove to be one of the Arrow’s greatest challenges.
The character of Damien Darhk had been mentioned off and on during the third season of Arrow, most prominently in the finale, when he left Starling City before Ra’s attempted to destroy the town.
Considering that a retired Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak left Starling City at the end of season three to parts unknown (Coast City, perhaps?), could Damien be the person who drives him back to town?
McDonough is the newest addition to Arrow, joining stars Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, John Barrowman and Paul Blackthorne.
Earlier this week, the Arrow writers teased the first table read of the season ahead of the show’s panel during the DC/Warner Bros. TV panel in Hall H on Saturday evening, posting a photo with Amell, Rickards, Ramsey and Holland.
Arrow returns Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. PT/ET on The CW.
