Amanda Bynes looked to be in good spirits as she stepped out for a fashion event on Thursday night.

The former What I Like About You star was pretty style savvy when she showed up to support former Project Runway contestant Michael Costello and Style PR's capsule collection launch in Los Angeles. A blonde Bynes was dressed in a figure-hugging, white mini-dress that she paired with black stilettos and huge sunglasses (which she wore at night).

This isn't just Bynes' first public event since her meltdown this past year, it's also her first public appearance since the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.

While cameras spotted her smiling as she exited the event, the 29-year-old actress did not pose on the red carpet. Bynes -- who's been pulled over by law enforcement numerous times in the past for driving under the influence and/or without a licence -- was seated in the passenger seat of the vehicle she left in.

Prior to this appearance, Bynes was last seen in June having lunch at Craig's Eatery in West Hollywood, California.

NEWS: When Amanda Bynes Got Out of Psychiatric Facility, She Went Back to Bizarrely Tweeting

Since 2013, the actress has exhibited bizarre behavior off and on that has included shoplifting and throwing a bong out of a New York City apartment window.

In October 2014, the former Nickelodeon child star was placed in a Pasadena treatment center where she was admitted involuntarily.

A week after being released, Bynes said via Twitter that she had been diagnosed as bi-polar and manic depressive. "I'm on medication and I'm seeing my psychologist and psychiatrist weekly so I'm fine," the tweet continued.

The actress has been off social media since March, and last tweeted to her 3.6 million followers a drawing that she had done.

ET has seen Bynes grow up. In fact, we were with her on set of The Amanda Show in 2001.

"It's so cool," she told ET at the time. "When I did All That, it's the same crew. It’s like my family here."
