Maxim
obviously has good taste.

The men's magazine chose Idris Elba to be their first male cover star ever for their September issue, the 42-year-old Luther actor making history and looking handsome as ever in a stylish black leopard-print coat.

According to Maxim editor-in-chief Kate Lanphear, the big choice was an obvious one. "We’ve never in U.S. Maxim history had a man on the cover solo," Lanphear told Racked. "This is the very first time, and there was no one else in the world more badass than Idris."

In a behind-the-scenes video of the photoshoot, Idris says the one thing he can't do is "stand still" -- and his fans will be seeing the results very soon.

"All the things I've been working on in the last two years all come out at the same time," he says. I really like the clothing line ... and you know, all the films coming out has been, like, two years of hard work. When you read off the list like that, it's like, 'Wow, you're busy.'"

Though one project you definitely won't be seeing him is in a new James Bond series. The magazine stresses that despite all the rumors, Idris has not been tapped to play the next James Bond in the iconic franchise.
