Mariah Carey is officially a star.
Well, she now has a star on the coveted Hollywood Walk of Fame and the 45-year-old icon celebrated in style with a lavish luncheon at the newly renovated Beacher's Madhouse in the Roosevelt Hotel. ETonline had eyes and ears inside the mid-afternoon soiree, where Carey sipped on a tropical cocktail, caught up with friends and unveiled a never-before-heard track. Read on for all the details.
1. She arrived fashionably late.
Guests began mixing and mingling at the bar around 12:30 p.m., one hour after the ceremony's start. Carey's label head and mentor L.A. Reid -- looking dapper in a black coat, white pants and white sneakers, sans his signature glasses -- and her longtime pal Brett Ratner were among the punctual arrivals, while Carey herself made a grand entrance just before 2 p.m. alongside Empire creator Lee Daniels. (Hours earlier, the director had announced that Carey will guest star on the show's upcoming season.)
2. There was a wardrobe change.
Of course there was -- it's Mariah Carey! The diva stunned in a long black dress with a sheer neckline at the podium earlier that day, but changed into a nightclub-ready, form-fitting sequin dress for the party.
3. Dem Babies stole the show.
Carey's twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon certainly take after their performing parents. Monroe and Moroccan, 4, not only took it upon themselves to say a few words at her ceremony ("They love to be on stage," she told ET at the time. "I'm not a stage mother, but they love to be on stage so I can't help it if they want to get a few words in.") but they also grabbed the mic for a small tribute to their mother. As onlookers and cameras swarmed the guest of honor, Moroccan hopped on the microphone with cries of "Mama! Mama! Mommy! I love you Mama!" Meanwhile, Monroe could be heard saying, "Mommy, I want the mic!"
4. Her new "Infinity" remix features some high-profile guests.
Carey's biggest hits played through loudspeakers throughout the afternoon, with the volume increasing significantly as event coordinators anticipated Carey's arrival. "Heartbreaker" was timed perfectly to the big entrance, but it was her new remix of "Infinity" that the singer really wanted to hear. Seated at a table alongside Reid, members of Team Carey rocked out hard to a never-before-heard remix of "Infinity," featuring Justin Bieber and French Montana. As the song ended, Carey's entourage shouted "Again!" and the DJ obliged. Later on in the afternoon, Carey visited the DJ booth herself to request the song be played a third time.
5. She wore a ring on THAT finger.
Carey's Australian billionaire beau, James Packer, was off working on Wednesday, though we couldn't help but spot some major sparkle on that finger. Upon closer inspection, the stunner on Carey's left hand was in the shape of a butterfly -- a nod to her late '90s hit.
6. Shades on.
The star shielded her eyes from blinding flashes with a pair of oversized shades -- and then kept them securely in place long after the cameras stopped snapping.
7. Champagne? No, thanks.
As guests sipped on Mas Fi sparkling wine, servers chilled a bucket of 2003 Dom Perignon Rose beside Carey's table. But when she arrived, the singer opted for a nonalcoholic concoction of pineapple juice, soda water and mint. Yum!
