Hoda Kotb couldn't hold back her tears as she shared how her morning show co-host Kathie Lee Gifford was doing after the death of her husband Frank Gifford.
On Monday's TODAY show, Hoda revealed that upon going to see Kathie Lee during this trying time, her friend seemed "remarkably strong."
"He will be remembered with love," Hoda said as she choked back her tears, adding that she's "grateful" to have known him.
Hoda said that Kathie Lee, who was married to Frank for nearly 30 years, told her that she doesn't see her husband's death a tragedy.
"I was holding her hand, and she said, 'A 4-year-old girl having cancer is a tragedy,'" Hoda recalled. "She said Frank lived to be almost 85. She said he lived an incredible life, has an incredible family and an incredible legacy. She said his life is a triumph."
Kotb remembered her co-host's husband on Twitter. "This is how I will remember #frankgifford -- always making us laugh," she wrote. "But today I am heartbroken -- love u klg xoxo."
Kathie Lee also tweeted following her beloved husband's death. "Deeply grateful to all 4 ur outpouring of grace," she wrote. "We r steadfast in out faith and finding comfort in knowing where Frank is."
