"It's Niblett. Just like Cher, no last name needed," Allison Janney said.
If you haven't been watching the hit web series Break a Hip, then you've been missing out on one of summer's best new characters.
"It's Niblett. Just like Cher, no last name needed," Allison Janney said with a laugh to ETonline about her big-haired alter ego. "It’s one of the funniest and more out-there parts I've played."
"The funniest moment for me was when Cameron Watson, the writer and director [of Break a Hip] said 'Oh and you'll also be playing the banjo, so here you go' and he just handed it to me," the Mom star added.
"I don’t know how to play the banjo so I just said, 'Alright. You're going to get the banjo playing from a woman who doesn’t know how to do it,'" The Mom star explained. "I just jumped in and decided I didn’t care how much of a fool I made of myself. I just wanted to have fun and be a little crazy."
The Vimeo series, which just released its eighth episode today, has already featured a star-studded list of actors including Christina Pickles, Octavia Spencer, Jim Rash, Priscilla Barnes and Peri Gilpin.

For Janney, there was absolutely no hesitation when she was asked to join in on the fun with the cast of Break a Hip. "I wanted to be a part of it because Cam, who has been a friend of mine for a very long time, is an extraordinary actor and director and writer and friend and I would do anything for him," she shared. "I was really happy when he told me he was writing this part for me: Niblett. I was like, 'Niblett?! What kind of name is that?!'
Like the name, Janney wanted to make Niblett's look one-of a kind. "They teased my hair up and it was an awful lot of fun to put her outfit together," she said. "It was definitely a collaborative effort to create Niblett's look."
The star continued, "It was just such a fun thing to do, and such a fun thing to shoot with all of us friends just hanging out and making this ridiculously fun story."
