Ellen Page and Ted Cruz argued for over five minutes about gay and transgender discrimination.
The 28-year-old Juno actress, who came out
as gay last year, confronted the 44-year-old Republican presidential hopeful on LGBT rights while he was grilling pork chops at the Iowa State Fair on Friday.
"What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?" Page is seen asking Cruz in an ABC News video
"Well, what we’re seeing right now," Cruz responded, "Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith."
"You're discriminating against LGBT people," Page said. "Well, would you use that argument in segregation?"
The two kept going back and forth, despite Cruz saying he didn't want to get into a "back-and-forth debate." The Texas senator added, "No one has the right to force someone else to abandon their faith and their conscience."
